Getting Lip Fillers - What It's Really Like!

Getting lip fillers is something that so many people get done, yet barely anyone talks about it! I think this is because people want to be thought of as a 'natural beauty', however having had the enhancement myself I want to be totally transparent and honest and say it exactly how it is!
This was the first time that I have had these done and therefore I wanted to share with you exactly what I had done and how it really felt! Read on, and make sure you watch the video of the procedure at the bottom of this blog!
So first of all.. who did I get them done by and what was the procedure called?
So the lovely Georgie from GG Aesthetics carried out the procedure and she came to my home which was amazing as it meant I didn't have to go anywhere! She covers Pembrokeshire in Wales and also London so there is loads of chances to catch her!
The injections that I had was 1ml of Revolax and I had the fillers injected into both the top and bottom lip and into the filtrum column.
When Georgie turned up she set up a treatment bed and popped some local anaesthetic cream/numbing cream onto my lips. She then talked me through what she was going to do, and then any risks associated with this. I then read some information and signed some forms. It's amazing how professional this all was; its the exact reason why I chose to have this done with Georgie - She's a qualified nurse!
The procedure itself really didn't take long at all - I think in total from her arriving to leaving it was about 1 hour and a half, but mainly because we chatted before and after a fair bit! Once my lips were numb she drew some lines on my lips marking out my cupids bow and then started on the injections.
Did it hurt? The question that everyone want the answer to and the truth is; yes a bit. It wasn't agony, nor was it plain sailing - it was more of a stinging feeling and something that was easy to cope with. I have way worse period pain than that! I do have a high pain threshold however I don't want to say that it didn't hurt at all and then you guys have the procedure and find it hurts! I must say that I expected it to be way worse then it was, I was pleasantly surprised!
The video below shows the actual video footage of the procedure:
As you can see in the video above, there was a fair amount of swelling and bruising however 7 days later this was gone. They felt very full and fairly sore for the first few days and then they started to crack/go quite dry and then they totally settled.
The details that Georgie went into regarding aftercare was fantastic. I was worried that I wouldn't know how to care for my lips but she explained in all for me! The main tips that I can advise you to do are;
- Use arnica cream for a few days before and a few days after to avoid the bruising
- Don't have any hot drinks for the first few days
- Sleep on your back for the first few nights, not on your side
Overall I am so happy with the shape and volume of my lips. They are exactly what I wanted and Georgie really listened to what shape I was after and delivered just that. I highly recommend getting lip fillers if you want to change the shape of your lips. A lot of people frown upon fillers, which is stupid in my eyes; I say it is your body, your face and if you want to change it; go for it!
